Tate & Lyle Ventures is focused on generating financial returns from the investments it makes. This means we focus on backing companies with defensible technologies, clear growth plans and a management team with the ambition to build an aggressive high growth business.
Our investment scope includes the following areas
• Renewable ingredient innovations
– Affordable improvements in health, nutrition and pleasure in everyday eating and drinking.
• Biomaterials and renewable technologies
– Technologies to replace petroleum-based products
– Plastics, textiles and fuels from renewable resources
• Innovations in manufacturing processing
– Transforming the efficiency of food and industrial processes
– Food safety testing and quality control
Through our investment experience we know that great companies usually do not come ready made – and we are fully committed to helping our portfolio companies to build management teams, define their strategies and grow toward success.
Our focus is on early stage ventures in Western Europe and North America looking for startup and expansion capital – ideally £1-2M as a first commitment. We are pro-active investors who aim to play a supporting role in the businesses we back, usually as board members, and we aim to support those businesses in the long term, always making sure we reserve sufficient capital for subsequent financing rounds.
