Management structure
Tate & Lyle Ventures is managed by Simon Barnes and David Atkinson, who between them have a wealth of venture capital and investment banking experience in the biotechnology and food sectors.
All investment decisions at Tate & Lyle Ventures are made directly by the management team within the fund. Long term strategy is, however, supported by our advisory board comprised of the senior management team of Tate & Lyle providing us with excellent insight into industry trends and dynamics. At the request of the companies we back we are also able to draw on a range of senior Tate & Lyle managers and researchers for assistance in building businesses and getting products to market.
This access into Tate & Lyle provides the fund with excellent insight into strategy and resources within one of the world's leading renewable ingredient players. The fund, however, is structured as a classic limited partnership – the structure chosen by the vast majority of venture capital funds – to ensure that we focus on helping the companies we back to grow into successful independent ventures.
