Tate & Lyle Ventures is managed by Simon Barnes and David Atkinson (working as Circadia Ventures LLP), who between them have a wealth of venture capital and investment banking experience in the biotechnology and food sectors.
Our long-term investment policy is supported by an advisory board comprised of members of the senior management team of Tate & Lyle as well as external advisers providing us with excellent insight into industry trends and dynamics. At the request of the companies we back we are also able to draw on advice from a range of senior Tate & Lyle managers and researchers in building their businesses and getting products to market.
This access to Tate & Lyle provides us with excellent insight into food industry needs via one of the world's leading ingredient players. The funds, however, are structured as limited partnerships – the structure chosen by the vast majority of venture capital funds – to ensure that they focus on helping the companies we back to grow into successful independent ventures that generate financial returns.
